I never really understood the PETA folks and their desire to place animals above humans in the food chain. I can agree with the most basic tenet of their organization, the "Ethical Treatment" of animals. However, I have never been blind to their more radical agenda. After reading portions of Ingrid Newkirk's will (courtesy wnd.com), I realize this woman is literally insane. She wants "meat" from her body to literally be used for a barbecue!
Her funding of eco-terrorist Rod Conrado and many other whack jobs runs under the public radar. Many people think they are joining an organization that just seeks to "protect" animals without knowing what they are actually funding. It is not difficult at all to do a little research to find out the truly sinister activities of this organization.

Early Prep For Lawsuits
From Salon.com, a piece by Mike Madden that is laying more groundwork for spurious charges of voter disenfranchisement. 72 year old Ted Ravelo worries that his daughters won't be able to vote because they have to work.
Here we go with the laying of the foundation...
Why is that? If there are no problems with the people who support the Republican candidate why should there be specific troubles with the Dems?
The idea that Republican operatives are somehow tampering with polling places is just ludicris. What affiliation does the group ACORN have? It certainly isn't Republican. They are under FBI investigation for fraud regarding voter registration. The article goes on to say that the group "Election Protection" will have lawyers roaming from polling place to polling place ready to help voters who can't find their precincts, etc. Strangely enough, ACORN just happens to be a member of Election Protection.
Those "suspicious characters lurking outside precincts" were obviously flown in by the right-wingers on their black helicopters.
Further into the article there is a ridiculous assertion that is pure speculation. Giving it print space is merely adding to that "disenfranchisement" foundation of sand they are trying to build.
Who is it that benefits from spreading baseless rumors? The Democrats, of course. This way they can charge that they warned before the election that there were reports of voter problems.
Referring of course, to the evil Republicans who are lurking at polling places.
The final paragraph of the article had me ROTFLMAO. What a self incrimination!!
-- who have to work on Nov. 4, and who sent him to scout out the wait time -- might not get to vote at all.

and once again, there's a very real possibility that a lot of people who support the Democratic candidate could have trouble voting.

"Voter suppression is something that anybody who has any sense of commitment to democracy or civil rights would want to fight against," said Weeden, a criminal defense lawyer who also helped monitor election sites in 2004. Back then, he and other volunteers encountered people who had been called and told their polling places had changed, or found suspicious characters lurking outside precincts with clipboards, asking people if they had met rigorous requirements to vote that went above and beyond what the law says.

Bill Richardson told Salon prior to appearing at an early-vote rally for Latinos in Kissimmee, Fla., on Wednesday. He noted that he's heard reports of rumors about voting problems among Hispanic communities in Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico as well.
Who is it that benefits from spreading baseless rumors? The Democrats, of course. This way they can charge that they warned before the election that there were reports of voter problems.
But, he said of expected record turnouts, "It's very healthy for our democracy, and we should take advantage of it, not engage in negative tactics and voter suppression."

Obama's most passionate supporters, meanwhile, say they're ready to show up no matter what they hear. "We're smart," said Sherrie Kendrick, a retired phone operator from Miami, who will turn 54 on Election Day. "We may not look it, but we're smart."

Good Read From The Canada Free Press
Aaron Goldstein from the Canada Free Press wrote an excellent commentary distinguishing between the actions of the left and right leaning electorate in this election cycle as it pertains to the losing side. His predictions of an Obama win with those on the right being unhappy yet resolved to win the next election and a McCain win sparking violence in the streets from those on the left is well founded (IMHO). Take a look, see what you think, decide for yourself.

Obama Quote Regarding ACORN
Obama telling ACORN during a speech to the group in December 2007, that "before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we're going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."
In November of last year, he told them... "I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work."
He accepted their endorsement in 2008.
Come clean Barack, stop the lies.

Biden Can't Spell or Count??
He's quoted saying "Jobs is a three letter word" and then he spells out those three letters...J-o-b-s.
Amazing. They think Sarah Palin is unqualified.

The "Tolerance" of the Left
If this is any indication of the supposed tolerance of the left, I'm keeping my distance on election day. Why is it that the left who spew hate and violence against the right, accuse the right of being hateful and intolerant?

Obama Seeks Government Grant For Donor
We might as well just pile on. Here's more questionable activity from Obama reported in the Washington Times.
...ethics watchdogs said he left himself open to creating the appearance of a conflict of interest, a situation senators are encouraged to avoid in their code of ethics.
Whenever a politician seeks help for a project in which supporters are involved, it can “spawn all kinds of traps and minefields,” said Leslie Paige, a spokeswoman for the nonpartisan Citizens Against Government Waste, an advocacy group.
“The appearance of a conflict of interest is almost as bad as a conflict of interest,” she said.

Barney Frank - Incapable of Telling the Truth
Here's a story from the Boston Globe, and one from Bill Sammon on the FOX News website showing just how disgusting a politician this man is. I happened to catch him on Bill O'Reilly's radio program the other day. While Bill did lay into him heavily and hardly give him a chance to respond, when he did he would point fingers and harken back to 1994. This slimy excuse for a human being simply refuses to admit that he had anything to do with the current mess we are in. He blames the "free market".
Pathetic. Throw the bums out. All of them!

Oh, That Hypocrisy....
Great column from Michael Reagan on the lefts hypocritcal outrage at the Scooter Libbey commutation. The media all in a huff has appaerntly forgotten how it turned a blind eye to Sandy Berger stealing classified documents in his socks and underwear, from the national archives and destroying them. His punishment? Revoked security clearance. Wow that's a blistering retribution for stealing and destroying classified documents.
Then there was the laughable statement from Hillary,
Then there was the laughable statement from Hillary,
"Today's decision is yet another example that this Administration simply considers itself above the law. This case arose from the Administration's politicization of national security intelligence and its efforts to punish those who spoke out against its policies.Umm, yeah. She forgot that her husband signed 140 pardons on his last day in office. Read the linked article for details on those. It's rather despicable that she would even open her mouth on the subject.

Global Warming Caused by Worms!
Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
I now have proof that global warming is NOT caused by humans, it's caused by worms. I should have known.
This is getting to be pretty ridiculous. Untrue...it has been ridiculous for quite some time. I have yet to see any convincing evidence that "global warming" is caused by humans. Remember those headlines from the 1970's about the coming ice age? I know, that was due to global warming, we just didn't know it at the time. We are now so incredibly advanced that we can predict the weather 50, 100 or even 1000 years from now. Unfortunately the side effect of that incredible technological advancement of future weather prediction is that we can't predict the short term weather, like next week or even tomorrow.
The bottom line is there is nothing on the planet that doesn't cause global warming according to the "warmies". Why have we not burst into a fiery inferno due to everything that is warming us up? When do I get my beachfront property?

More Ann Coulter, Please!
I must admit that I don't keep up with the columnists that I like to follow. I could only dream of having enough time to read all the op/eds I enjoy. Perusing the news and opinions this morning on favorite sites, I caught a link to the Human Events magazine website. I read Ann's current column about that sleaze bucket lawyer in the Duke LaCrosse rape case, Mike Nifong. She skewers him on a pig spit and uses extra BBQ sauce to boot! I looked in the Ann Coulter archives and one headline caught my eye, "Jerry Falwell -- Say Hello To Ronald Reagan!". It was written over a month ago. That shows you my timetable for op/ed reading. I couldn't resist, hey...it's Ann Coulter!
Read it. Funny, biting humor, truth, sarcasm. What more can you ask for? You may not agree with her writings but boy, can she tell it like it is and make you laugh at the same time.

The Left's Fascination With the Right's Supposed Media Control
This article at CNS news shows the rather sophisticated collaboration of the left in shutting down free speech. That sounds very conspiratorial and "black helicopter"-like but there efforts and collaborations taking place to try to silence a news network that does not provide a liberal bias. Liberal activists effectively persuaded candidates to withdraw from a debate merely because they did not like the Fox News network hosting. I'm quite confident that there was never a boycott from the right when CNN (Communist News Network), ABC (Always Bull Crap), CBS (Crooked Broadcasting Service) or NBC (Non Believable Communications) held a debate. Candidates from the right generally want to be involved in any debate.
Less information is bad, shutting down debates is bad, spinning information is bad. While both sides can be accused of spinning, it's the left that actively trys to shut down free speech and the dissemination of information. This quote from Robert Greenwald, one of the activist organizers that successfully shut down the debate, I think speaks for itself.
The Left attempts to shut down opposition by attacking the opposing messengers rather than defending their position. Try to avoid the facts because that tends to confuse their opinions.

"The more Democrats legitimize Fox as a neutral or credible source of news, the easier it is for Fox to swiftboat Democratic candidates and progressive ideas in the future -- elevating smears and misinformation into the mass media during the 2008 election," it says.

Notable Quotes and Some Questions Regarding Humor
Perusing The Quotations Page is always an enlightening jaunt. I came across a relevant quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. that really encapsulates the dialogue in the media over the course of the last week in regards to the Don Imus brouhaha.
A distasteful opinion should not be squelched but debated vigorously. A distasteful joke should be ignored and frowned upon, not avenged. Heard any of Chris Rock's stand up comedy? (caution: not for the easily offended) This should have you wondering if Imus' comments didn't receive a bit of over-reaction. Would Al and Jesse pay to go see Chris do his stand-up routine? Could they handle being the butt of one of his jokes? Maybe it's just that Chris Rock is funny and Don Imus isn't? Hopefully a bad sense of humor won't be a criminal offense anytime in the not too distant Orwellian future. One last immortal quote....
We should be eternally vigilant against attempts to check the expression of opinions that we loathe.

The "Reverend" Al Sharpton
The term "Reverend" should be used loosely. Talk show host Larry Elder has a really good compendium of the "Reverend" Sharpton's hypocrisy, racism, anti-semitism and criminal convictions. For this guy to be leading the charge on crushing Don Imus for a really dumb joke in poor taste just floors me. Granted, Imus said something stupid, but holy cow, Al...you've said and done some really stupid stuff yourself. Just read Mr. Elder's page.

We Need More Global Warming...and SOON!
R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. (founder and editor in chief of The American Spectator) has a really good article on the need for global warming. Ask most sane people in the mid-west and east coast their thoughts on the global warming fairy tale after the last week or so.
Doesn't anyone remember the predictions back in the late 1970's that we were going to be doomed to an ice? If we can't predict the weather with any certainty for next week, how can anyone assume that we can predict the weather 100 or 1000 years from now? Stop falling for the hype and hysteria!!

Hollywood Hate
Excellent article by Brent Bozell at the Media Research Center site. He writes of the double standards in Hollywood when choosing a victim for receipt of their brand of hate speech.
I don't mind Hollywood being ignorant about issues of faith. They don't know anything about it. Faith scares them so they choose to mock it. I expect them to offend me. What I DO mind is the double standard involved. Where's the Hollywood movie mocking islamo-fascists? Wouldn't that be a great movie? The bungling terrorists who couldn't even blow themselves up let alone other people?
However, when mocking Christians, it's open season.
I saw a bumper sticker on a car the other day. I think this is the first that I have ever really been shocked by. I think there are a plethora of distasteful displays of verbage devaluing cars the world over but this one took the cake for me..."So many Christians, so few lions".
I was shocked because it was essentially condoning murder. Yes, this is only written on a bumper sticker but the person who confidently decided to gum up their paint job made a conscious decision to choose that particular sticker. What is funny about that? What if the sticker had said, "So many Jews, so few gas chambers"? Maybe "So many Rwandan's, so few weapons"? How about "So many pedophiles, so few children"? I had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that there were people so callous as to find humor in any of those "jokes"? We are all free to be as offensive as wish wish. There are however limits to "free" speech.
If boycotting, pressuring, letter writing and other forms of expressing ones displeasure with being offended offends the offender. Uh, too bad. There is no Constitutional guarantee of "freedom from reaction" when exercising your free speech rights on either side of an argument.
Here's a good article on the tax exempt status for churches and it's use for stifiling free speech.

Media Predisposition to Bash Bush
mThe media bias never stops. There is a prediposition for advancing the causes of the enemy. In this article from the Wichita (Kansas) Eagle, the story has the Bush administration preparing for their deceptive tactics to take us into war with Iran. They set the stage for questioning whatever policy positions the administration determines on Iran.
The MSM completely miss the story when they have an opportunity to Bush bash. The "investigative", "unbiased" journalism which I'm sure they believe they are doing is really opinion journalism. The quote below from the Wichita Eagle shows this by the inclusion of one word! "unusual"
Simply by removing the word unusual you have an unbiased assesment of the letter. Throughout the article there are only "sources", "analysts" and "officials" quoted. Who are these people and what are their credentials? The article reads more like a gossip column.
We can always count on the MSM to talk to unnamed or anonymous sources in regards to classified information. Apparently our safetey and the safety of the men an women in the armed forces is not a concern when it applies to "getting the story".
If you read the "unusual" letter it appears (in my humble opinion) that Mr. Vilmos Cserveny from the Office of External Relations and Policy Coordination is upset that the perception of Iran is that of a sinister nation. I think the most telling paragraph is the second to last where he states,
STOP!
That sentence alone is enough to relegate the whole letter to being bird cage liner. When has the UN Security Council ever accomplished anything? The United Nations is a joke! The organization is like the points awarded in the comedy show "Who's Line is it Anyway?". They just don't matter. Like the Surgeon General's warning on a pack of cigarettes.
"It seems like Iran is becoming the new Iraq," said one U.S. counterterrorism official.
This official and others spoke on condition of anonymity because the information involved is classified.
